The finale was a show down between Team Autosport GB (Priaulx-Button) and Team Germany (Michael Schumacher-Sebastian Vettel); in the very last run off Priaulx was just beaten to the flag by Schumacher so giving the German team a hat-trick of wins in the Nations Cup.
“What a great evening we had. It would have been nice to beat the Gemans, but when you are against such opposition it is pretty formidable. The atmosphere was electric and I am now looking forward to the Race of Champions tomorrow night. It will then be every man for himself,” said Priaulx.
In the first round Priaulx and Button beat Team All Stars’ David Coulthard and Giniel de Villiers, moving ahead to the semi-final in which they beat Team China’s Ho Pin Tung and Han Han.
Reigning WTCC champion Yvan Muller was eliminated in the first round, when his Team France lost to Team USA and Team Scandinavia. Muller set the fastest time in the pool beating Tom Kristensen and Tanner Foust, but his team-mate Guerlain Chicherit lost to Travis Pastrana and Mattias Ekström.
