Alain Menu’s Chevrolet Lacetti was the fastest car in the second day of the WTCC official test at Valencia. Just like Augusto Farfus yesterday, the Swiss driver benefitted from the fresher temperature of the morning session to post the fastest time with a lap of 1:42.886 that was only one tenth faster than Tuesday’s Farfus’ time (1:42.990) and today’s Jörg Müller’s best lap (1:42.994).
Tom Coronel created a surprise posting the fourth best time of the day at the wheel of his SUNRED SEAT León TFSI. The Dutchman who took part for the first time in a WTCC official test completed his best lap in 1:43.335, only four thenths off Menu's and half-a-tenth faster than BMW Team Italy-Spain's local driver Félix Porteiro.
James Thompson and the N.technology team continued their work to set up the brand new Honda Accord Euro R in view of joining the championship for the Valencia meeting in May. Today Thompson completed 83 laps without technical problems and improved further to 1:43.500, reducing his gap to 0.6 seconds.
In the afternoon the 26-year old Spaniard José Manuel Pérez-Aicart tested the SUNRED petrol-powered SEAT León. Pérez-Aicart will take part in the WTCC meeting at Valencia (17th/18th May), a very special award for the winner of the 2007 SEAT León Supercopa.
