The three WTCC drivers invited to Sonoma for the NASCAR race meeting took part in a press conference with the local media on Sunday morning at the track.
Gabriele Tarquini, James Nash and Tiago Monteiro sat at the conference table together with the circuit’s President Steve Page, and answered questions from the press about the WTCC and the event that will take place at Sonoma on 23 September.
“Racing in the USA is a big challenge and a new philosophy. I enjoyed my previous experience in the Indy Car series and to come back is a dream come true. In these days we have felt very welcome and I’m confident we will put in a good show here,” said Monteiro.
Tarquini echoed: “I am excited, as I had not been in the States before. I was impressed by the track layout and its facilities. This is a great road course, with a lot of ups and downs. It will suit very well to our kind of cars and racing.”
And Nash added: “As a Ford driver I am delighted to come racing in the States. And I’m happy this happens in my rookie WTCC season. I can’t wait to race at Sonoma. I think this is one of the most exciting tracks the championship visits.”
