LADA Sport Rosneft has officially confirmed it will run two Vesta TC1s during WTCC Race of Germany.

The Russian squad had been due to field a three-car line-up for rounds seven and eight of the FIA World Touring Car Championship.

However, Mikhail Kozlovskiy will be a non-starter after his Vesta was commandeered for former WTCC champion Rob Huff to use after the Briton inflicted considerable damage to his own car during a test in Hungary last week.

Meanwhile, Jaap van Lagen netted the ninth fastest time in testing this morning on his return to the LADA fold following a five-year absence. The Dutchman, ranked as a Nürburgring Nordschleife specialist, is replacing James Thompson for WTCC Race of Germany.

Tom Coronel and twin brother Tim have finished the gruelling Dakar Rally in South America, reaching the end of the final stage in Córdoba, Argentina, yesterday just outside the top 30.

Tiago Monteiro, a race winner and title contender during the final season of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in 2017, has received Portugal’s Sport Merit Award.

Comtoyou Racing has signed its second FIA World Touring Car Cup contender in as many days with the addition of Aurélien Panis to its WTCR line-up for 2018.
