WTCC drivers Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro and James Nash were honoured as special guests yesterday night during the Children’s Charities Grand Marshall’s Banquet that took place in Sonoma’s Cline Cellars.

A group of twenty USA media representatives had their first contact with a WTCC car at Sonoma’s Infineon Raceway today, enjoying rides in a SEAT León car driven by Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro.

WTCC ambassadors Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro and James Nash are enjoying their first day at Sonoma’s Infineon Raceway where they have been invited to promote the World Touring Car Championship event of 23 September.

Following an invitation to tender, the FIA World Motor Sport Council appointed the Yokohama Rubber Company to supply the control tyre for the next three seasons of the FIA World Touring Car Championships: 2013, 2014 and 2015.

After making his maiden WTCC appearance earlier this year at Valencia, Spanish youngster Fernando Monje is now aiming for the European Touring Car crown before rejoining the World Championship for the overseas events.

Gabriele Tarquini, Tiago Monteiro and James Nash have been appointed Ambassadors of the WTCC in an effort to promote the championship’s first visit to USA that will take place at Sonoma’s Infineon Raceway on 23 September.

After taking part in the events in Hungary and Portugal, the LADA Sport team will not race in any of the remaining WTCC meetings.

Rounds 15 and 16 of the 2012 FIA World Touring Car Championship will take place at Curitiba, Brazil, 21 and 22 July.
